Dear all,

It is our immense pleasure to share that the 6th Association of Nepali Teraian in America (ANTA) General Convention held on August 21st, 2021 at Wingate By Wyndham Hotel, 3940 Centerview Dr., Chantilly, VA 20151, USA in a hybrid format (In-person and virtual) was a grand success. This convention, with a theme of “ANTA for Promoting Identity, Culture and Prosperity of Madheshi Community”, was another milestone on the list of ANTA’s achievements. The convention was attended by approximately 200 participants (In-person and Virtual) that included distinguished guests, ANTA members and their family, and well wishers. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest Mrs. Vijaya Shah, the most senior and respected dignity in our community.

The convention presented the condolence to the late known/unknown ANTA members, family friends by one minute silence period. On behalf of ANTA, we would like to extend the highest appreciation to th erespected Mrs. Vijaya Shah for her kind presence at the convention. We are also thankful to the special guest speakers Hon. Dr. Vijay K. Karna- Chairperson, Nepal Madheshi Commission, Dr. Raghbendra Dwivedy-Keynote Speaker- the retired federal officer, USA. We would like to extend our gratitude to our Special Guest Speakers Mr. Ram Manohar Sah- Former Chairperson MADHUR, Mr. Pradip Dhakal- Councilmember, Town of Herndon, Virginia, Mr. Subhodh Regmi – Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Virginia Chapter, Mr. Arun Rupakheti- Chairperson NACC, Dr. Ram Krishna Sah, UN Representative, Dr. Medani Adhikari- Former president of ANA, Mr. Chadra Lama-Former member of Olympic Committee, Nepal, Dr. Chandra Mohan Yadav-Former Member of Parliament, Nepal, Mr. Shri Prasad Sah- Social Activist, Mr. C. We would like to congratulate Dr. Ram Krishna Sah-ANTA Life Time Achievement Awardee and thank for his virtual presence and sharing his inspiring stories and views. We would also like to thank Mr. Vijay Singh, Immediate ANTA Past president for expressing his ideas and sharing his experiences in the meeting. We would like to thank Dr. Indra D. Sahu – ANTA President for chairing the convention and welcoming and presenting the opening remarks. We would like to thank Mr. Mohan Yadav-Convention Convener, and Co-conveners Dr. Bindeshwar Sah and Dr. Rabindra Mandal for initiating the program. We also appreciate souvenir publication team, especially Dr. Bindeshwar Sah for the preparation of the souvenir on this occasion and Convention Co-chairs Mr. Anil Dwivedy and Dr. Bikash Singh for extending votes of thanks.

Collaborative effort is the key to success for any organizational activity. The 6th ANTA Convention in Chantly, VA became a grand success due to the collaboration of the ANTA Executive Committee, ANTA DC host chapter and hard work of many ANTA members organized in the form of the Convention Committee and Sub-Committees. We would like to thank Coordinators of the sub-committees: Mr. Anil Dwivedy – Program, Dr. Bikash Singh – Finance, Mr. Khushnandan Thakur/Mr. Mulayam Singh- Public Relation, Dr. Bindeshwar Sah – Publication and Advertisement, Mr. Raj Yadav- Venue, Hospitality, Registration and Volunteer, Mr. Sujit Jha/ Mr. Raj Yadav- Media, Mr. Mohan Yadav/Mr. Sujit Jha- Cultural, Mrs. Kanchan Thakur- Women Networking and Participation, Mr. Vijay Singh – Fund raising and Sponsorship, Mr. Laxmi Mandal – Resource and Networking, Mr. Kusheshwar Mandal/Mr. Khushnandan Thakur – Youth Networking and Participation, Mr. Laxmi Mandal – Chapter and Participation, and their teams for their tireless efforts. The contributions of many other Volunteers are also greatly appreciated. We would like to thank ANTA DC Chapter for hosting reception dinner, and Mr. Mohan Yadav and Mrs. Manju Yadav for sponsoring the reception dinner in the evening of Friday, August. 21st. Special thanks to DC Chapter members Mr. Lesh Narayan Yadav,Mr. Dinbandhu Gupta, Mrs. Krishna Parajuli, mrs. Bina Lama Khadka, Dr. Madhav Yadav, Mr. Jagganath Sharma, Mr. Krishna Murari Khadka, Mr. Narendra Reddy-Woodland Restaurant, and the members of local Nepali Organizations for making the Convention successful.

After the opening session, the ANTA State and Election Declaration session was conducted. ANTA Joint Secretary Dr. Bindeshwar Sah presented the proposal from the ANTA Central EC: “The newly elected ANTA EC team from the convention will be active from August 21, 2021 to run the ANTA EC smoothly. ANTA EC requested ANTA general convention to approve this proposal to make the newly elected ANTA EC team to be active from the August 21, 2021 (the date of the convention) for this 2022-2023 term only due to the special situation of this ongoing ANTA issues.” All the members of the ANTA Convention General Body unanimously approved this proposal. Dr. Bindeshwar Sah also presented the approval message of this proposal to the convention. Choosing an Executive Committee officer for leading any organization is very important and challenging.

The 6th General ANTA convention provided electing the 2022-2023 EC officers via more democratic Election process as per ANTA Bylaws. Dr. Ram Babu Yadav-Election Chairman announced the election results: [President – Mr. Mohan Kumar Yadav, Senior Vice President – Mr. Kusheshwar Mandal, Vice President (National) – Mrs. Kanchan Chaudhary, Vice President (International) – Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, General Secretary – Mr. Rajbir Yadav, Joint Secretary – Dr. Rabindra Mandal, Treasurer – Dr. Bikash Singh, Joint Treasurer – Mr. Brajesh Kumar Thakur, Spokesperson – Mr. Khusnandan Thakur, Executive Committee Members (5 positions), Mr. Ashish Jha, Mr. Awadhes Kumar Gupta, Mrs. Bandana Deo, Mr. Rupesh Kumar Yadav, Mr. Shatrudhan Sah]. Dr. Ram Babu Yadav administered the oath of office to the newly elected officers. We would like to thank Dr. Ram Babu Yadav – Election Committee Chair and his team members: Dr. Ram Krishna Sah, and Mr. Sujit Jha for completing the election process very successfully.

We would also like to congratulate Mr. Mohan K. Yadav – newly elected ANTA president and his team members and wish them for the success of their tenure. The convention provided forum for discussion on relevant issues that help in promoting ANTA’s mission in achieving its goals and objectives.

In compliance with the theme of the 6th Convention, a session on “ROLE OF YOUTH IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY: Mobilization of Youth Resources” was organized. We would like to thank the moderators of the session Mr. Khushnandan Thakur/ Mr. Kusheshwar Mandal and the panelists: Dr. Naval Pariyar, Mr. Rahul Thakur, Mr. Makeshwar Ray, Mr. Nurendra Yadav, Mr. Chandkishor Yadav, Mr. Maiya Sharma, Mr. Rupesh Yadav, Mr. Raju Gupta for their ideas, views and thoughtful presentations. In another session, the discussion focused on the very relevant topic “THE WOMEN POWER”, was organized. We would like to thank the moderator of the session Mrs. Kanchan Chaudhary, and the panelists: Mrs. Manju Singh, Mrs. Manju Yadav, Mrs. Sunita Deo, Mrs. Anju Patel, Mrs. Manisha Dwivedy, Mrs. Nutan Thakur, Mrs. Gudi Thakur for their thoughtful presentations, expressing their views and sharing inspiring stories on how we can improve women’s involvement for prosperous Madhesi society in Nepal and America.

The convention also presented ANTA’s annual reports. We would like to thank ANTA President Dr. Indra D. Sahu for chairing the session and presenters: Dr. Bindeshwar Sah- ANTA secretarial report, Mr. Mohan Yadav- ANTA Cultural Promotion, Dr. Bikash Singh – ANTA DC Chapter report, Mr. Laxmi Mandal- ANTA Kentucky-Ohio Chapter report, Mr. Makeshwar Ray- ANTA- Kansas Missouri Chapter report. Dr. Indra D. Sahu also presented that no financial activity was performed by ANTA EC after the May 31, 2020 due to the resignation of then President and hence ANTA Central EC will not be responsible for any financial activities done by any individual ANTA EC members.

One of the goals of the convention was to revisit what we learned in the past and where we would like to go in the future. An open round table session on “Strengthening ANTA” was organized. We would like to thank Dr. Ram Babu Yadav for moderating the session and several participating members for providing their feedback for the unity of Madhesi working for Madhesi cause under the umbrella of ANTA and future work required to strengthen ANTA. Discussions were also held on past activities including financial activities and ongoing issues in ANTA. Members present in the general body meeting also put their views on the how to make the ANTA activities transparent and unite whole ANTA community together to serve our community at large. ANTA EC should learn from the past experience and improve the further performance to run the organization smoothly. A committee will be formed by newly elected ANTA EC team that will look at the details of the past activities and work to make resolution of any past issues to run the organization smoothly.

ANTA 6th General Body unanimously condemned and rejected the activities of the resigned ANTA EC officer (Mrs. Aprajita Jha) and her group in the name of ANTA. The General body of the convention ( the supreme body of ANTA) upheld all the activities of ANTA led by Dr. Indra D. Sahu and team. The Convention General body decision is final and cannot be challenged in the spirit of ANTA Bylaws. The convention provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions and achievements of ANTA members and friends of ANTA.

The Award Ceremony is one of several jewels that make the convention shining. We would like to thank the Award Committee Coordinator Dr. Ram Babu Yadav and his team members: Mr. Anil Dwivedy, Dr. Rabindra Mandal, and Mr. Vijay Singh for successfully completing the process, and we congratulate all the awardees for receiving the ANTA awards: Dr. Ram Krishna Sah- ANTA Life-time Achievement Award, Mr. Khushnandan Thakur/ Mr. Kusheshwar Mandal/Mr. Laxmi Mandal/Mr. Anil Dwivedy- ANTA Outstanding Executive Award, Mr. Rahul Thakur- ANTA Outstanding Academic Award, Mrs. Kanchan Chaudhary- ANTA Woman Empowerment Award, Dr. Bindeshwar Sah/Dr. Rabindra Mandal- ANTA Excellence Award, Mr. Gunraj Luitel-ANTA Journalist Award, Dr. Bikash Singh/Mr. Makeshwar Ray- ANTA Outstanding Chapter Award, Mr. Mohan Yadav- ANTA President Award, Ms. Jayanti Bista/Ms. Arya Sharma- Special ANTA Cultural Award. We would like to thank Dr. Ram Babu Yadav for recognizing all ANTA awardees and ANTA guests for distributing the awards. The convention was enjoyable also because of the cultural program that was full of entertainments including the songs, dances and drama. Several artists showed their talents in the program and presented several Nepal-madhesh related performances. Specifically, we would like to thank Mr. Mohan Yadav/ Mr. Sujit Jha, for their team for leading the cultural program, and several volunteers for showing their talents and making the convention enjoyable for all participants. We would also like to thank media representatives Mr. Gunraj Luitel – INJA for the live broadcasting of the convention.

We would like to thank all the sponsor and donors who supported this convention. The convention was well represented by the ANTA family members and several distinguished friends of ANTA, and many others.
